The Catalyst Program.

An eight-week sprint from idea to impact.

Catalyst is UChicago EA's projects program. Over eight weeks, undergraduates partner with experienced mentors working in high-impact cause areas and take on a real project: a research question, a policy analysis, a piece of software, or something else entirely. It's designed to build the skills that matter for doing good.

How it works

  • You're matched with a mentor in a cause area you care about, like AI safety and governance, global health, biosecurity, or animal welfare

  • Together you scope an eight-week research or applied project that stretches your skills

  • Weekly check-ins keep you on track, alongside workshops and support from the UChicago EA community

  • At the end of the quarter, you share your work and walk away with real experience, a work sample, and connections in the field

No prior experience is required, just curiosity and the willingness to commit real effort for eight weeks.
